Blind Bride Blindfolds Guests and Groom Who Is Moved to Tears 'Seeing' Her Dress With His Hands

A blind bride brought the entire congregation into her world on her wedding day by inviting them to wear blindfolds. Her groom "saw" his bride for the first time by touching her exquisite dress with his hands, and the moment moved the room to tears. Author of the book "Blind Not Broken," Lucy Edwards, 27, married Ollie Cave, 26, at Royal Botanic Gardens Kew in London, England, on Aug. 31. Ms. Edwards, a blind broadcaster and disability activist, has a rare genetic skin condition incontinentia pigmenti (IP) that led to her losing sight in both eyes by age 17. Reconceptualizing her wedding day was a bittersweet experience.

She had never acted before, but Aria Mia Loberti recorded a simple audition video after hearing about a Netflix casting call. The part was for the heroine in an adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Anthony Doerr, "All the Light We Cannot See." Loberti, like the main character, Marie-Laure LeBlanc, is blind.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday revived a deaf student’s lawsuit against a Michigan school district that failed to provide him with a qualified sign-language interpreter. In a unanimous opinion by Justice Neil Gorsuch, the justices ruled that federal education law did not require the student, Miguel Luna Perez, to fully pursue his claims against the school district in administrative proceedings before going to federal court.
American School for the Deaf students to compete in Robotics World Championship

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Students from the American School for the Deaf are celebrating a huge win: they’ll compete in the VEX Robotics World Championship next week.
The Tech Tigers, ASD’s high school team, competed against 33 teams from Deaf schools across the country, scoring themselves a spot in the World Championship. Their team consists of four members: Hayder, Stephanie, Nathaniel, and Jaylin, in grades 11 and 12.
Beep baseball gives visually impaired, blind children opportunity to play ball

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A modified version of America's pastime gives kids who are visually impaired or blind a chance to have fun and play ball.
"I hear you loud and clear!" said 18-year-old Javon Glass to the ball he affectionately calls "Mr. Beeper."
Glass is just one of over 50 kids who came out to play the game at the Kern Center at Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday.
